GIVE Learning Seminar

Climbing the Volunteer Ladder: Boards, Committees & Skilled Volunteering

Have you wondered how to make the jump from being an occasional volunteer to serving on a committee, becoming a skilled volunteer or taking on the ultimate volunteer role as a member of the Board of Directors?

Join us for an interactive program to discuss the increasingly important role you can play as a key volunteer in a nonprofit organization.

This program is designed to:

  •  Introduce the wide breadth of focus areas covered by nonprofit organizations and the opportunities that they represent;
  • To clarify the extensive roles key volunteers can play in the success of nonprofit organizations;
  • Help you to determine what to consider when looking for your next volunteer opportunity;
  • Increase your understanding of what the role of the nonprofit board and board members are;
  • Assist you in determining if you should be looking for a committee, skilled volunteer, board or other volunteer opportunity; and
  • Introduce you to resources that can help you on your way.

GIVE Event Descriptions

Learning Seminars

Learning Seminars are designed to educate the participants about different issues among nonprofits as well as leadership components that will excel them both professionally and personally.

Volunteer Opportunities

The goal of providing a monthly volunteer opportunity is to expose young professionals to the community need for volunteerism and to ultimately assist each classmate in finding a nonprofit to give back to.

GIVE Class Exclusives

The GIVE Class Exclusive Learning Seminars & Volunteer Opportunities are held for the GIVE Class and the GIVE Advisory Board members. Each event highlights a specific nonprofit in Baltimore City, where the GIVE members are able to interact with the executive director and utilize their skills and expertise to help with a current issue.

Networking Events

Each networking event is designed to bring all GIVE members together to mix and mingle. Some of the events may be themed and/or have a goal to raise funds for nonprofits.
