GIVE Learning Seminar: Networking & Relationship Building

Details

Invest in your professional and leadership development by joining us for an informative panel discussion on effective networking and relationship building.

Panelists Roswell Encina, Director of Communications at Enoch Pratt Free Library, John Cammack, Managing Partner at Cammack Associates, and others will offer lively discussion and interesting tips on:

  • Using social media to enhance your professional network,
  • Establishing and maintaining a mentor/mentee relationship to improve your professional and leadership skills, and
  • Communicating effectively in the workplace, especially between different generations.

This program is being presented by BVU's GIVE Program, which is designed to raise awareness among the next generation of civic leaders about the growing need for volunteerism in Greater Baltimore.

Because the GIVE Program is dedicated to introducing young professionals to a variety of ways they can get involved as civic leaders in Baltimore, this learning seminar will also feature an introduction from our hosts, the American Red Cross.

Registration is required.

Silencing Your Inner Critic: A Public Speaking Training for Volunteer Managers

Details

Join BVU & the Baltimore Improv Group for a workshop for managers of volunteers who would like to improve their public speaking skills. Uncertainty paralyzes public speakers and nothing brings greater uncertainty than criticizing yourself while you are speaking. This workshop uses techniques from improvisational comedy to get your attention off of yourself, and back to communicating with your audience.

During this workshop you'll be:

  •  Focusing on your speech's objective and not on its delivery
  •  Shifting your speech as the audience and "mood" call for it
  •  Connecting with your audience as partners, not as critics
  •  Enjoying and giving thoughtful attention to the "conversation" rather than the "presentation"
