IT Professionals Offer Pro-bono Consulting to Baltimore Nonprofits

In partnership with BVU, the Greater Baltimore Technology Council (GBTC) will be hosting Baltimore’s first “Volunteer Consulting Group” event on March 19, 2010. Through this unique event, professionals from GBTC-member companies will be offering pro-bono consulting to nonprofits facing challenges with Information Technology (IT).

Over the last year, skills-based volunteering has seen revived interest as businesses seek new innovative and meaningful ways to contribute to their communities, while encouraging the professional growth of employees. Through this event, the GBTC will leverage its resources to maximize its potential to benefit the community while creating tangible results for member companies and their employees.

Through this “Volunteer Consulting Group” event, participating nonprofits will get personalized advice and will have the ability to network with professionals they can cultivate as long-term volunteers. In addition, each professional in attendance has expressed an interest in working with a local nonprofit so it is extremely likely that both parties will create trusted connections, learn from each other, and ultimately develop long- lasting, business relationships that will benefit the community.

“BVU deeply thanks the Greater Baltimore Technology Council (GBTC), for their generous offer to host this event and to provide nonprofits with access to Baltimore’s best and brightest in the technology field,” said BVU’s Director of Business Relations, Nan Bambara. “We need to remember that providing skilled volunteers is one of the most significant contributions any business can make to the nonprofit community,” Bambara added.

If you are a member of a business organization and would like to leverage your access to local experts for the benefit of the community or if your company is interested in developing a skills-based volunteer program please contact Nan Bambara at: 410.366.1722.
