Timonium, Md. (June 15, 2010) Clifton Gunderson, ranked as one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and consulting firms, announced in June the kickoff of Clifton Gives Back (CGB), an initiative to expand the firm’s philanthropic reach within the Baltimore community to causes that are of the upmost importance to its employees.
CGB was formed as an alliance between Clifton Gunderson and Business Volunteers Unlimited Maryland (BVU), a Baltimore-based not-for-profit that connects businesses with not-for-profits in need. Through the partnership, BVU will be working with the firm to organize corporate volunteer projects, facilitate individualized pro-bone projects, board placements and develop other community involvement strategies.
“We are quite fortunate not to have been as impacted by the economic crisis as some of our neighbors,“ said Jennifer Leary, partner and CGB coordinator. “We wanted to mobilize our workforce to help those in the community who need an extra hand. ”
“Local and global companies agree that business success is closely tied with the health of the community,“ said Nan Bambara, Director of Business Relations at BVU. “BVU is proud to partner with Clifton Gunderson in the development of a strategic community involvement initiative that will allow employees at all levels to get involved and to make a meaningful contribution.”
The kickoff event was held on Saturday, June 19th, at the Stadium School Youth Dreamers. Volunteer activities included: building horse shoe pits and pathways around the center.
“I am very excited about the strategic alliance with BVU. The goal of this effort is to invest our talent in local communities and cultivate civic leadership in our people. It is a win-win outcome; the community will be stronger and so will we," said Terry Hancock, Managing Partner, Mid-Atlantic Client Service Center.“
