Business Volunteers Unlimited Maryland Announces 2011 GIVE Program Classmates

BVU Grows Second Annual GIVE Class with more than 40 Next Generation Civic Leaders Participating

Business Volunteers Unlimited Maryland (BVU) announced the 2011 GIVE Program class; more than 40 professionals from a broad range of careers who will work to better Baltimore through civic engagement, community building, and leadership development. Members of the 2011 GIVE class represent a diverse range of industries, including financial services, health, hospitality, real estate,  technology, government, defense contractors, and philanthropy.

The GIVE Program (Getting Involved in Volunteer Experiences) raises awareness among the next generation of civic leaders about the growing need for volunteerism and engagement. The eight-month program will prepare classmates to be dynamic civic leaders through a curriculum of monthly learning seminars, professional development and volunteer opportunities, and networking events. Participants will be exposed to the issues and challenges facing the Baltimore community, and the rewards of effective volunteer and nonprofit board service.

Following the first year of the program, GIVE classmates can continue their involvement as GIVE advisory board members, ambassadors for civic engagement or as mentors to future participants.
