Baltimore JetBlue Employees Celebrate “One Thing That’s Green” Through Volunteerism

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, five representatives of JetBlue’s Baltimore operations team met at the Southeast Anchor Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library to volunteer as part of the company’s “One Thing That’s Green” campaign. Across the nation, JetBlue teams have been organizing to volunteer their time for environmentally-friendly projects, and BVU was proud to connect local employees with an opportunity in Baltimore. Jenny Michalak, Southeast Community Development Corporation’s coordinator for the project, had this to say about her experience working with their team:

“We had a great time with the JetBlue team. Our goal was to eradicate an area of erosion at the northeast corner of the Southeast Anchor of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, 3601 Eastern Avenue. With the help of Cell-Tek founder Jeremy Bodkin, we dug out and built a landscaped area using Cell-Tek's recycled grid system. Later this week we plan to finish the top tier of the landscape and plant. Thank you to the crew from JetBlue!”

In related news, another small group of employees from JetBlue is currently scheduling time to meet with staff at Moveable Feast for a skills-based volunteer opportunity. They’ll be providing analysis and advice about the nonprofit’s delivery routes with an eye on saving time, money, and gasoline.

Congratulations to JetBlue’s Baltimore team for their work in bringing the “One Thing That’s Green” campaign to Baltimore!
