M&T Bank Partners with Baltimore's Westport Academy with the support of BVU's PENCIL Partnership Program

MT-Holiday-Tree-2009-003.jpgBusiness Volunteers Unlimited Maryland (BVU) announced that M&T Bank will be kicking off its partnership with a winter coat, hat and mitten drive for Westport Academy, a Title1 school in Southwest Baltimore.

BVU's PENCIL Partnership Program will facilitate the development of partnerships between Baltimore businesses and Baltimore City Public Schools bringing knowledgeable, skilled people willing to help students achieve academic success.

"The most important investment that businesses can make is in a local school. Strategic partnerships between businesses and schools can shape the future of students by motivating them to stay in school and improving their quality of life as well as that of the community. We are certain that through this partnership the students will receive the resources they need to thrive in school and bridge the achievement gap,"  said BVU Executive Director Kelly Hodge-Williams.
