October 31, 2009, Baltimore MD. Business Volunteers Unlimited Maryland (BVU), an affiliate of HandsOn Network worked with Disney Parks to organize a volunteer project to revitalize Great Kids Farm at the Bragg Nature Center. On this day, 75 individuals volunteered for four hours contributing over 300 hours of volunteer service with a value of approximately $6,360. Some of the projects that volunteers worked together on included: building fences, transplanting fall crops, making garden signs and helping build winter shelters for the chickens and goats.
Great Kids Farm is a working farm owned and operated by Baltimore City Public Schools as an educational and vocational training component of its larger Farm to Cafeteria initiative. The October 31st day of service will bring children and families together in service to their community.
