Constellation Energy Volunteers Work and Learn

During a Day of Service organized by BVU, Constellation Energy volunteers not only worked hard to make improvements to the landscape at Great Kids Farm, but they also tasted the farm’s produce, fed the farm’s animals and learned about the diversity and richness of life that grows in this unique educational space.

Constellation Energy has a long history of providing resources to organizations that are making tangible strides in ensuring the future health of the environment. Through its commitment to educating students and adults about dynamic living systems and the interconnectedness of living systems, the farm was able to increase the volunteers’ environmental awareness.

Another unique feature about Constellation Energy’s Day of Service was that employees and their children worked and learned together. There are many benefits to volunteering together with family members. When children volunteer, they learn about compassion, empathy, tolerance, gratitude, and community responsibility. In addition, children who volunteer are more likely to continue doing so as adults. Families that volunteer together spend “quality time” and share a common bond while doing something worthwhile for others.

Many volunteer jobs are perfect for families with little ones. To find family-friendly volunteer opportunities in Baltimore, visit www.volunteercetnral.net or contact BVU’s Volunteer Center by calling 410.366.6030.
