What is BVU's PENCIL Partnership Program?

BVU’s PENCIL Partnership Program builds and supports customized relationships between the business community and Baltimore City Public Schools. Partnerships bring a wealth of resources and expertise to create real change in the lives of students and communities.

What is a School and Business Partnership?

A partnership is a relationship between a business and a Baltimore City Public School that lasts a minimum of one school year. Partners commit to working together to develop projects and activities that create a lasting impact in one of three key areas:

• Strengthening school leadership
• Building school capacity
• Enhancing student learning

How Does BVU Support Partnerships?

• We assist partners in the development of an Annual Partnership Plan.
• We provide partners with project ideas and partnership models.
• We function as liaisons and coordinators between partners.
• We offer ongoing technical assistance to maximize partnership efforts.

How to Get Involved?

• Businesses and schools apply to the program and participating in an assessment meeting with BVU.
• We match a school and a business based on the expertise and resources of the business and the needs of the school.
• Once matches are made partners discuss various strategies to develop a successful partnership.
